‘Don’t Be Mean Behind Your Screen’

Paula O’Connor will visit children in 5th & 6th class on Tuesday 4th November. She will also meet parents later that evening in the school hall at 7p.m. Her workshops cover all aspects of safety and security surrounding the internet, digital media, gaming, online interaction, password protection, and etiquette when using social media, bearing in mind the changes to the law. These workshops have been designed to promote the positive elements of using digital devices, as well as being mindful of the many challenges young people face on a daily basis and the impact it can have on their development, well-being, mental health, and their future. The workshop is open to all parents to attend.

Tinreamh & Poncúlacht

The overall pupil attendance for the school year to date is 95%.

We request that parents do not remove children unnecessarily from school during the year. As part of our attendance policy parents will receive notification from the school when their child has been absent for 15 days. This is to remind parents that their child is nearing 20 days of absence from school. We are legally obliged to report absences greater than 20 days to Tusla.

Punctuality is a life skill and in Emo National School we encourage children to BE ON TIME FOR TEN TO NINE. We understand that when children are late it is not usually the child’s fault so we ask that parents make a special effort to ensure that your child is not consistently late for school.

Parking: Please continue to respect the STOP AND DROP lane in the Community Centre car park.

Please do not drive inside the school gates to drop off/collect children. This applies throughout the school day, if collecting/dropping children to school.

Please inform grandparents/childminders of these important protocols.

Following their recent AGM on Oct. 9th, the officers for the coming year have been elected for our Parents’ Association.

Chairperson: Gemma Wheeler

Secretary: Robert Gleeson

Treasurer: Amie Colgan

We look forward to working with our officers and PA group again, as we continue to collaborate in ways that support the children in the school.

Again, we’d like to highlight the tremendous contribution of the PA; for their time, effort and initiative in organising numerous events and activities.

Our staff and pupils are very grateful to have such an excellent group of parents working in the background.
