Although the weather is very unsettled and cold at the moment, we are delighted to notice the brightening mornings and slight stretch in daylight hours. We remind parents, grandparents and childminders who are walking children to school to be careful of slippery footpaths and manhole covers.

- Thursday 19th and Friday 20th February (Mid-term break)
- Friday 27th February (Staff Training: New Primary Curriculum)
- March 16th & 17th (St. Patrick’s Day Holiday.)

Our annual review for Child Protection was carried out by the Board of Management at our last meeting on 3rd December.

Curaclam na Scoile
Our main focus area for our School Self-Evaluation this year is Spellings and Phonics. Staff have agreed on targets and actions and we are now finalising our written plan. Details of this plan will be shared with parents in the coming weeks.
Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week took place last week Sunday 18th to Saturday 24th January 2026 with the theme of ‘Catholic Schools – Normal Lives, Called to Holiness’. This was celebrated in our classrooms and at our school assembly.
Tinreamh
The attendance for the school year up to last Friday was 94.7%.
Snámh agus GAA
Swimming is ongoing for 5th and 6th classes. Our thanks to our Parents Association who have subsidised the cost of same by €10 per child.
GAA coaching will take place with children from Senior Infants – 4th class this term with Laois GPO Patrick Mahoney.
We look forward to Cumann na mBunscol hurling and camogie training commencing in February.
Bluiríní
- Congratulations to Yvette Milner, Fia Ní Chomhraidhe, Elise Milner and Sena Harte who competed at the Schools Leinster Swimming Gala in the National Aquatic Centre on January 18th. We wish Sena all the best as she prepares to swim in the All-Ireland Schools Gala in March.
- Vex Robotics – Our 6th class children continue to prepare for The VEX Robotics competition this Thursday 29th in Mountmellick Community School. Team members Noah Booth, Michael Cosgrove, Seán Hyland, Grace Kelly, Liam Malone, Aoibhinn Murtagh, Cormac O’Keeffe, Darragh O’Keeffe, Jamie O’Loughlin, Kaila Ryan and Katie Ryan have spent many hours designing, building and testing their robot. We congratulate them on this and wish them all the best for the upcoming competition.
- School Website – We hope to go live with our new school website in the next fortnight. We will notify parents through Aladdin when we have confirmation of same.
