Recently, our 5th Class pupils enjoyed a fascinating and informative trip to the wind farm at Mount Lucas, Co. Offaly. During their visit, they learned about renewable energy, with a particular focus on wind power and its importance in building a more sustainable future.
The children discovered how wind turbines are constructed and how much electricity they can generate. They also gained an insight into the valuable work being carried out to restore and protect Ireland’s boglands for future generations.
One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to experience what it is like to stand at the top of a wind turbine through the use of virtual reality headsets, providing a unique and memorable perspective on the scale of these impressive structures.
