Lá na Seantuismitheoirí ; Grandparents Day
The children are very much looking forward to their Grandparents visiting them in school on this Wednesday, May 1st@11a.m.. Grandparents should come to the school hall when they arrive. Each class will do a little presentation for them. This will take an hour approx after which time they can go to the classes to visit their grandchildren. After visiting the classes grandparents will come back to the hall for a cupán tae which our Parents Association are kindly organising.

Jumpers and Tracksuit Tops
With the better weather children are taking off jumpers and tracksuit tops in school. Please check that they are clearly labelled with the name of your child .
Ealaín:Texaco Art
Anna McCarthy (9), was one of only two Laois students to win an award at the Texaco art competition recently . Anna , who is in third class won a Special Merit Award for her artwork entitled ‘Teddy Bear’. Final Adjudicator, Gary Granville, Professor Emeritus of Education at the National College of Art and Design said that Anna ‘demonstrated high levels of skill and imagination’.
Béilí te ; School hot meals
Lunch bag have provided us with a new start date of the 20th May. We will have more details on the week of the 13th May.
Measúnú Caighdeánach; Standardised Assessment Tests
Standardised Assessment Tests for each class from senior infants to sixth class will commence on the week beginning 20th May. A standardised assessment is used to measure a child’s achievement compared to other children throughout the country at the same class level. Should you wish to access further information about standardised testing you may do so by accessing the NCCA website ; www.ncca.ie

We were delighted to meet 26 new junior infants and their parents recently .
Chomaoineach; First Communion
Fr. Dooley celebrated First Communion with 28 children in St. Paul’s church yesterday, 28th April @ 11a.m. We would like to thank Fr. Dooley, Ms. Lewis Ms. Greene and Ms. Noreen for all their hard work in preparing the children for the day.
